To Enrico and Angelika

Este nosso post vai ser em inglês uma vez que é dedicado aos nossos amigos alemães Enrico e Angelika
This next post will be in English since is dedicated to our German friends Enrico and Angelika

Our 2005/2006 new years eve was really different from all we have planned – our intention was to go surfing in Alentejo but our plans have changed. The reason? Work, as usual!

So, in 30th December 2005 we went to Mértola do install a CTD in Guadiana river. In this first day, we work and went to sleep in a beautiful “pensão” with an amazing view over Guadiana.

In the next day, while our friends were looking for the best waves, there we were near a river – nice but no waves at all! When doing our work, we meet George – an American living in Mértola that went to Alentejo by crossing the Atlantic… sallying! We were amazed with is story (live and trip) and we spend some time talking. In the end, George asked us “How about join me and some friends for dinner?” “Ok!” Around 7 p.m. we meet George, his girlfriend, Fernando, Enrico and Angelika. We had the nicest dinner and in the end, we sing “Happy Birthday” to “baby” Angelika in English, German and Portuguese! A totally different new years eve! During dinner, we found out that Enrico and Angelika also went to Mértola by boat and, in the last moths, they live in the boat! Definitely romantic… but cold!

In January the 1st, we came back to Sintra but we still went to Mértola a couple of times do download the data from de CTD. Every time we went there, we always tried to find our new friends!

At this moment, neither George, Enrico and Angelika are in Mértola. Everybody went home… still we keep in touch with Enrico and Angelika by e-mail and lucky Rui already have spoken with Angelika at the phone in this last Christmas!

It´s nice to have friends that, even far away, find out a way to keep in touch!

For all of you that don´t kwon Mértola...you have no ideia what you are missing.
